Can Depression End a Marriage?

Depression is a condition of the health that in some cases can even be extremely debilitating. One sad fact about depression is that it is a condition that affects every single person at some point or another.

This would include the individuals that suffer from the condition itself, as well as friends, members of the family, and children that are affected by a parent, a friend, a child, or a sibling that suffers from this condition. One person that often feels the biggest impacts is the the spouse of a person who is depressed. This is because they are impacted immensely from the social withdraws that occur, lack of sexual and emotional intimacy, and negativity that will often occur within the relationship.

These are stressful factors that will many times end up in numerous couples seeking a divorce. This is especially true when the spouse suffering from the condition of depression refuses to seek help for the symptoms that they are suffering. It may be surprising but there are some statistical records that show that there are only about 20% of the individuals that suffer depression that will seek help and treatment for their condition.
