An important step taken before starting therapy with Sinequan is determining the patient’s blood count, which, in the case it is unusual, the effect with Sinequan should be monitored. The common side effects associated with Sinequan are drowsiness, agitation, seizures, confusion, schizophrenia, increased anxiety, lightheadedness, insomnia, hyomania. Even extra-pyramidal side effects are observed, like akinesia, which is a condition in which the patient cannot move his body parts. Postural collapse might also be a consequence, usually in cases when the patient stands up too quickly from the lying position. Dry mouth, sweating, edema, skin rashes, glaucoma, obstipation, difficulties in urination, ileus ( paralysis of the intestines), liver damage, tinnitus, increased anxiety, nightmares, hyperactivity, hepatitis ( even though very rarely) are also some of the adverse effects which might be encountered upon starting medications with Sinequan. Moreover, there might be situations where these side effects become severe, leading to an urgent condition which could be fatal, and wherein the patient must be immediately taken to the doctor. Breast enlargement, nausea, an increase in appetite often resulting into weight gain, sexual dysfunction or partially impaired sexual functions, hypoplastic anemia, hypertension and photosensitivity are also some of the side effects reported with use of Sinequan.
