There are side effects associated with this antidepressant that can decrease in a short amount of time, but when they do not, it is possible the physician will need to change this medication.

The side effects associated with Surmontil can be dry mouth, heart palpitations, dizziness, tremors, nervousness, sweating, fever, fainting and in some cases can cause difficulty breathing.

If not taken according to the dosage recommended by a professional, in rare cases Surmontil can cause a person to experience suicidal thoughts or causing harm one’s self. 

There are some more severe side effects that some people might experience and the physician should be contacted immediately. There can be severe breathing difficulties, loss of continence, difficulty urinating, a feeling of euphoria and extreme nervousness or tremors.

Surmontil should not be taken at higher dosages than prescribed or a double dosage when one is forgotten as it can lead to extreme side effects that can be dangerous and will require immediate medical help.
